Before I venture out to the forest or a place that's further away and more public, I decided to try to take a couple of photos in my neighbourhood.
Me and my mom found an alleyway next to some other buildings that we thought could be accurate in terms of scenery. Now because I don't have a lot of experience in photography, by the time I got a photo I thought looked good, it started raining, so we will continue in another day.
When looking at the photos, this is the one I choose to try to edit.
The main thing I like about this photo is the way the rays of light almost seem to connect the light source to the hand, so that was something I tried to keep in mind when editing.
Unfortunately, I ran into some technical problems and I can not use Photoshop right now, I will try to fix it but in the mean time, I used Procreate on my Ipad to experiment with editing the photo.
At first, I wanted to try to draw on top of the photo to change the hue of the image a bit and accentuate that light that I really like. The good thing about Procreate is that it creates a time lapse of your project while you're making it and I will include the video of it here too. I warmed out the colours from the image to make the contrast higher and I drew over the image with my pen, playing with the opacity and warmth of the shades.
I am pretty proud of this result, even tho it is not done, I think it's a good start. I think it captures the essence of the book. I still want to take some more photos, because I really like the concept of the photos with the candles - like the examples I showed in my last post.
