In this post I will talk about my experience with having my first photoshoot and I will attach the unedited versions of the photos I will use in my magazine, plus some behind the scenes pictures.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I rented a photo studio here in Cluj Napoca. For equipment I brought my own camera and used a white background, lights, camera stand and chair as a prop that were provided by the studio. The man that owns the studio was present and he showed me how to work with the lights, as it was my first time ever being in a studio like that. My mother assisted me and helped with transportation. She also helped me by acting as the model for a few test shots to see exactly how I want my photos to look. (bts photo 1. and photo 2.)

The day of the photoshoot I knew that I would need some time to prepare, so I started applying my makeup 3-4 hours before leaving to have time to get ready. I had my clothes planned out before hand but I wanted to make sure I have time to finish the look without having to hurry up or forget any steps. The process of doing my makeup lasted around 3 hours with a few short breaks. I know it may sound excessive but again I really wanted to take my time with it and not be in a rush. First I primed and cleaned my face, then applied some foundation to have a uniform base. I then applied all my eyeshadow colours and blended everything. I made sure to go back and forth between the colours to get them to be as pigmented as

possible. After that, I used a white water activated liner to draw on all the white lines. I then added some more white in my brows, lashes and lips. (bts photo 3.)

Me and my mother took all I needed (the drawing I made, a change of clothes and makeup for photos and touch ups) and went to the studio by car. I can’t lie, it was pretty weird to be outside the house and walk outside with the makeup I had on.

We stayed at the studio for around 3 hours and I took a lot of photos for each type of shot that I needed. (photo 1. 2. 3. and 4.) There was a new idea that I got on the spot. There were a couple of chairs there and I thought it would look good if I took some photos with me standing on the chair with the drawing leaning against it. I also scrapped one of my original concepts for photos because it didn’t translate well in real life and only looked good in my head. But it is okay

because the new idea with the chair turned out to actually be my favourite concept. (photo 5.) I also changed my outfit to have two different versions of each concept.

I did not realise that because of the lights the temperature in the studio could get pretty warm, but it is definitely something I noticed through out the shoot. Over all, this was a great experience. It was a bit stressful with this being my first professional photoshoot, but I definitely learned a lot and had fun.
